[KLUG Members] unmounting external HD using PCMCIA

When I have LInux open with my external HD (USB through a PCMCIA card),
two partitions (one ext3 and one FAT32) are mounted. I notice when I
shut down Linux that the PCMCIA service is shut off before the file
systems are unmounted. Is this a problem for the two mounted file
systems on the external HD? Should I be unmounting them manually before
telling the machine to shut down?
