I would fire it up with a slackware installation disk in the CD drive to boot 
from and at the boot: prompt enter sata.i

You ought to be able to interact with the sata drives as if they were a SCSI 
drive (/dev/sd*).

At least that works on my ASUS Mobo with a Promise SATA controller.
