The way I understand Windows .prn files, is they are a printable file,
embeded with the windows print driver commands, specific to the
printer it was made for.  In windows you can "print to file", using a
particular printer driver, and then later just copy the file to the
printer via DOS. EG: "copy file.prn \\server\printer".  The driver
that creates the file has to be the correct driver for the printer the
file is later copied to.
I used to do this, but I'm not sure if this is the same thing you're
talking about. (for whatever it's worth).
